INTRO TO ANXIETY & DEPRESSION AS CONDITIONS

Anxiety and Depression In A Nutshell

Anxiety and depression can feel like a heavy fog, leaving you overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or disconnected from both yourself and those around you. These struggles often arise from chronic stress, major life transitions, or the ongoing pressure of trying to cope in a fast-paced and demanding world. Over time, they can quietly erode your sleep, relationships, confidence, and overall enjoyment of life.

Anxiety is a persistent sense of unease, tension, or fear that can take over your thoughts, disrupt your ability to relax, and make everyday tasks feel exhausting or overwhelming. It might show up as racing thoughts, restlessness, panic attacks, or physical symptoms like a racing heart or trouble breathing. Depression, on the other hand, can feel like emotional heaviness or numbness that’s hard to shake. It often brings deep sadness, hopelessness, fatigue, or a loss of interest in things that once brought joy. You might feel like you’re just going through the motions, disconnected from yourself and the world around you.

If this sounds familiar, please know you’re not alone. Therapy offers a safe space to understand these feelings, explore their root causes, and gently work towards relief, clarity, and reconnection.

 TECHNIQUES I USE

Techniques I Use For Treating Anxiety and Depression

To support individuals navigating anxiety and depression, I offer a structured approach that brings together evidence-based therapies and holistic practices. I work gently but with purpose, offering practical tools to calm the nervous system, interrupt unhelpful thought patterns, and build inner strength and emotional resilience. This integrative process is not just about short-term relief; it’s about helping you reconnect with yourself, feel more in control, and find long-term healing in a way that truly honours your pace and your story.

Techniques I use include:

Cognitive & Behavioural Therapies (CBT, ACT, DBT)

These evidence-based approaches help you understand your thought patterns, manage emotional triggers, and make empowered, values-led choices.

Creative & Expressive Therapy (Art, Journaling, Therapy Cards)

Using drawing, writing, inner child exploration, and therapy cards, we tap into creative channels for emotional expression and self-discovery.

Mindfulness, Breathing, & Guided Meditation

Calming breathwork and present-moment awareness techniques support emotional grounding, nervous system regulation, and inner clarity.

Spiritual & Intuitive Counselling (Meditation, Energy-Aware Support)

Integrating spiritual grounding, energy awareness, and intuitive guidance to support deeper healing and reconnection to your authentic self.

In-Person Therapy For Depression and Anxiety

Online Therapy For Depression and Anxiety

Healing from the safety of your own space.

Grounded connection in a safe, supportive environment.

Online therapy sessions for depression and anxiety offers a flexible, accessible way to receive support from the comfort and privacy of your own space, helping reduce the stress that often comes with in-person sessions. It allows you to connect with a compassionate therapist without barriers like travel, time constraints, or social discomfort. For anxiety and depression, this ease of access can make it easier to start healing consistently and stay supported through life’s ups and downs.

In-person therapy allows for face-to-face connection, which can foster a stronger therapeutic relationship and deeper emotional engagement. Physical presence can also enhance non-verbal communication, giving therapists better insight into clients' emotions and needs. The structured, distraction-free environment of a therapist’s office can help people feel more grounded and present during sessions. For many, attending therapy in person creates a sense of routine and commitment that supports long-term healing.

AFTER THERAPY

What You Can Expect After Therapy

After completing a course of therapy with me, many of my clients describe feeling calmer, more centred, and more able to face life’s ups and downs with clarity and strength. Together, we work through the layers of overwhelm, self-doubt, and emotional pain, so that you can begin to feel more in control.

You may notice your inner voice softening: your confidence growing, your reactions changing. Many people discover healthier ways of coping with stress, a renewed connection to their values, and an increased sense of self-worth. Most importantly, you begin to reconnect with you and start to move forward with a greater sense of resilience, purpose, and hope.

 MEET YOUR COUNSELLOR

Hi, I’m Alicja,
your Go-To Counsellor in Jersey

I’m someone who carries both fire and gentleness, with the heart of a healer and the mind of a strategist. I’ve walked through burnout, grief, major life changes - not untouched, but reshaped. These experiences didn’t break me; they clarified my purpose. They taught me how to hold space for pain, for hope, for truth, and for healing.

I’m trained in creative and integrative approaches, including CBT, DBT, ACT, somatic work, meditation, Thought Field Therapy, and energy-based practices like Emotion and Body Code. What this means is we don’t have to stay in one lane. We can draw from what works for you. Whether it’s grounding breathwork, therapy cards, nervous system regulation tools, or quiet reflection, each session is shaped around where you are and what you need.

I don’t believe in fixing people. I believe in walking alongside them - gently, honestly, with depth and care.

Creativity is woven through everything I do. It’s how I understand the world, and how I invite others to explore theirs. Therapy with me might include colour, metaphor, art, movement, or simply a different way of looking at something. You’ll also receive thoughtful tools, printouts, and practices to carry into your day-to-day - because healing doesn’t stop at the end of the session.

I’m a mother. I love all animals. A passionate advocate. A bit quirky. Deeply human. I believe in softness, structure, humour, and soul.

And I will always, always hold hope for you, especially when it feels hard to hold it for yourself.

FAQs on
In-Person & Online
Therapy For Anxiety And Depression

  • Yes, online therapy can be incredibly effective in supporting individuals with anxiety. In fact, for many of my clients, it offers a gentler and more accessible starting point. You receive the same evidence-based care you would in person, but with the added comfort of being in your own space. Many people find that being at home helps them feel safer, more grounded, and more able to open up.

  • There’s no one correct answer! Each person’s experience with anxiety or depression is unique, and so is the path to healing. In my practice, I often draw from an integrative approach, blending evidence-based therapies such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy). These approaches offer practical tools to help you gently notice and shift unhelpful thought patterns, manage emotions more effectively, and reconnect with your core values. The aim is long-term emotional resilience, deeper self-awareness, and a renewed sense of control over your life.

  • Deep nervous system regulation can be nurtured through practices like slow, conscious breathing, mindfulness, somatic grounding, and creative expression. These tools work beneath the surface, helping you shift out of fight-or-flight and into a calmer, more connected state. In our online therapy for depression and anxiety, we’ll discover which approaches your system responds to best. Together, we’ll create a personalized toolkit that not only soothes anxiety in the moment but helps you feel more balanced, steady, and emotionally equipped in your everyday life.

  • Absolutely! When depression has been part of your life for a while, even small things can feel like too much. Online therapy offers an accessible way to begin the healing process. It gives you consistent support without the pressure of leaving home, helping you gently unpack what's underneath your low mood, rebuild emotional strength, and reconnect with meaning and self-worth.
